Genevieve M. Rose, age 89, of Monmouth, Ill., passed away at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2009, at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth. Genevieve was born May 30, 1919, in Monmouth, the daughter of W. I. and Evelyn Hull Sprout. Genevieve attended Phelps rural school, was a graduate of Monmouth High School and receive a degree in Elementary Education from Monmouth College in 1969. Genevieve married Emmett L. Rose on August 17, 1946, in Quincy, Ill. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2000. Genevieve taught 1st and 2nd grade in the rural schools of Phelps and Hedgepath and lastly at Warren School. She was active in the Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed traveling, genealogy, scrap booking, crocheting, embroidering, hand work and knitting. Genevieve is survived by one brother Robert (Audrey) Sprout of Monmouth, two nieces, Sue (John) Endsley of Rochester, Ill., Kay (Stan) Jenks of Monmouth, three nephews, Milo (Jan) Sprout, George (Peggy) Sprout, and Todd (Chris) Sprout all of Monmouth and a number of great nieces and nephews. Services:A graveside service with interment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2009 in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery in Monmouth. Friends may call on Monday at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth prior to the service. A memorial fund is being established for Extended Care at OSF Holy Family Medical Center.
