George W. Cavallo, age 72, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at 9:33pm on Monday March 30, 2009 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth. George was born on January 29, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri and is the son of George Henry and Frances Elizabeth Glenville Cavallo. At the age of five George moved to Quincy where he attended Catholic School and then atttended Notre Dame Highschool and Quincy High School. George served in the Army in the Military Police during peace time between Korea and Viet Nam. He married Treva Goodina on November 10, 1959 in Quincy, Illinois. George operated the Yellow Cab Company in Quincy, Illinois for eight years and then was employed at the Iowa Army Amunition Plant in Middletown, Iowa for several years. From 1972 to 2001 George was employed as a Machine and Press Operator at Admiral / Maytag in Galesburg, Illinois until his retirement. George also enjoyed working on and repairing small and large engines at his home. George liked going to the boat, and watching baseball on television as well as all sports on the tube. His main interest was pickin' on his grandchildren and friends. Surviving George is his wife Treva Cavallo of Oquawka, Illinois His daughter Hope Gelene Doty and Ken of Galesburg, Illinois Two Grandchildren Rusty Cavallo and Christina of Oquawka, Illinois and Angel Cavallo of Burlington, Iowa One Niece Tina Mulhollen and one Nephew Kevin Cavallo One Great Niece Mallory Mulhollen and One Great Nephew Mel Mulhollen Preceding George in his death are his parents, one sister, one brother Wallace, one nephew, and one niece. Services:A gathering of family and friends is planned on Monday April 6th, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Cremation has been accorded. A memorial fund is established by his family.
