Gerald L. "Jerry" Van Dyke, age 80, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at 5:27 P.M. on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth, Illinois. He was born on June 21, 1937 in Moline, Illinois, the son of Verl and Mabel (Bybee) Van Dyke. Jerry was raised and educated in Moline, IL. On February 4, 1995, he married Mary O. Stotts in Oquawka, IL and she is surviving. Jerry was employed for thirty years at John Deere Manufacturing as a repairman and retired in 1987. He was a member of the Oquawka Masonic Lodge and the former Oquawka Eagles Club. Jerry was an avid fan of stock car racing in the Quad Cities where he built and raced cars for many years. He loved to bake cakes and did so for his many friends. Jerry also enjoyed horses, motorcycles, and camping and fishing in Minnesota. Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary Van Dyke of Oquawka, IL, one daughter, Tammy (Bob) Brandmeyer of Burlington, IA, one son, Terry (Elizabeth) Van Dyke of Oquawka, IL, one step-daughter, Tina (Art) Roberts of Burlington, IA, eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Kevin. Visitation His family plans visitation from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the funeral home. Funeral Service A funeral service is planned for 10:00 A.M. on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. A Masonic Service will be held at 5:00 P.M. prior to the visitation. Interment will be in the Oquawka Cemetery.
