Geraldine E. "Geri" Furnald

Geraldine E." Geri" Furnald, age 72, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at her residence near Oquawka, on January 21, 2012 at 8:00 pm. "Geri" was born on January 11, 1940 in Gladstone, Illinois and is the daughter of Martin P. and Lela M McNamee Keever. She was raised in Gladstone and graduated with the class of 1958 form G & O High School. Geraldine married Herman L. Furnald on August 26, 1961 in Gladstone, Illinois. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1990. "Geri" began work as a Waitress at the Gladstone Cafe for three years. She then was employed as forman in manufacturing at Lamont, Limited of Burlington, IA until 1992 and her retirement. "Geri" is a member of the American Legion Auxillary in Monmouth, and the Oquawka Eagles Club, and the Gladstone United Methodist Church. She enjoyed fishing, stock cars, and attending local car shows. Surviving are two daughters Annette Ernst of Muscatine, Iowa and Carrie Cratton of North Liberty, Iowa. and one son Herman L. ( Mary) Furnald, Jr.of Castlewood, Virginia. There are four grandchildren Ronnie, Jacob, Dondre', and Anthony. One sister also survives, Helen (Raymond) Hull of Monmouth, IL. Her friend Pat Heinz of Oquawka, Illinois also survives. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, and one sister. Services:A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Interment will be in the Oquawka Cemetery. Her family plans a visitation on Thursday evening at the funeral home with her family present from 4:00pm to 7:00 pm. Interment will be in the Oquawka Cemetery.
