Gertrude L. "Bingo Gertie" Bishop

Gertrude L. " Bingo Gertie" Bishop, age 91, of Biggsville, Illinois; passed away at the Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab Center in Stronghurst, Illinois on Saturday July 19, 2014 at 10:03 am. Gertrude was born on October 23, 1922 in Oquawka, Illinois and is the daughter of Douglas and Mabel Francis Tee McCabe. Gertrude was raised and educated Gladstone where she received her education and graduated from G & O High School. She was previously married to John E. Bishop on July 6, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her on September 12, 2007. Bingo Gertie began work at Western Stoneware in Monmouth, IL for a time. She then assisted her husband in his auctioneering business for many years. She was most of all a homemaker and mother to her children. She loved playing bingo. She is survived by six sons Dean (Sue) Bishop of Seattle, Washington; Dwain (Nancy) Bishop of Downing, Missouri; Edward (Carol) Bishop of Tempe, Arizona; Mick (Diane) Bishop of Las Vegas, Nevada; Rick (Jody) Bishop of Biggsville, IL and Thomas (Lori) Bishop of Tempe, Arizona. There is one daughter, Helen (Allan) Robertson of Danville, Iowa. There are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren surviving. Also surviving are two sisters, Geraldine Hennessey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Lois Allen of Burlington, Iowa. and two brothers, Douglas McCabe of Oquawka, Illinois and John McCabe of Burlington, Iowa. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, one son John, two sisters, and one brother. Services:A graveside service for the committal of her ashes will be in the Biggsville Township Cemetery on Friday July 25, 2014 at 10:30 am. No family visitation and viewing is planned. A memorial fund will be established for Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab Center of Stronghurst, Illinois. Turnbull Funeral Homes is in charge of the arrangements.
