Goldie F. Huffman, age 89, of Biggsville, Illinois; passed away at 11:45 am on September 21, 2012 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Goldie was born August 10, 1923 in Weaver, Iowa and is the daughter of Donald O. and Ina Fay Galbraith Brent. Goldie was raised in rural Gladstone and attended Mary Dell rural school. Goldie married Ruey Miller Huffman on November 7, 1939 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1993. Goldie was a homemaker and mom for her family, and also was a farm wife assisting her husband and the farm operation. She then worked for F.W. Woolworth in Burlington, as a clerk and worked in floral. Later, she worked as a clerk at Cook's in Burlington. Her last employment was in dietary at the Burlington Medical Center and later in the Klein Unit. Goldie retired about 1992. She has been a long time member of the Gladstone United Methodist Church and loved her flowers and gardening. She enjoyed bowling and participated in a league at the Oquawka Lanes. Most of all she loved to cook and be with her family, children and grandchildren. Surviving Goldie are her daughters Pauline (Durbin) Hinshaw of Davenport, IA and Fay Gray of Gladstone, IL. There are four granddaughters Dee Moorman of Buffalo, IA; Jenny-May Olson of San Antonio, TX; Debbie (Danny) Palmer of Gladstone, IL; and Cindy Gray of Gladstone, IL; One grandson also survives, Tim Gray of Monmouth, Illinois. Three great grandchildren are also surviving, Baylee Moorman of Buffalo, IA; Dustin Palmer of Kirksville, MO; and Steven Palmer of Davenport, IA. One brother survives Roy (Phyllis) Brent of Oquawka, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a number of brothers and sisters. Services:A funeral service was at the Gladstone United Methodist Church on Saturday August 25th at 11:00 am. Interment will be in the Oquawka Cemetery. Her visitation was at the Gladstone church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service on Saturday. A memorial fund is being established for either her church Gladstone United Methodist Church or Legacy Estates in Monmouth, IL .
