Grace E. Sage, age 90, of Monmouth, passed away at 10:29 p.m., Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Ill. She was born on March 26, 1919 in the Suez Township in Mercer County, Ill, the daughter of Stanley and Cora Agnes Bullington Montgomery. She was reared and educated in the Norwood area. Grace married Clyde G. "Slick" Sage on November 19, 1938 in Burlington, Ia., he preceded her in death on July 25, 1999. Grace first worked at the Bersted Hobbycraft, she then worked at the Formfit, Western Stoneware, and lastly she worked at Wilson Foods, all in Monmouth. Grace was a member of the Monmouth Eagles Arie. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, cooking for her family and friends, she was known for her specialties of fried rabbit, homemade chicken and noodles, and her applesauce. Most of all, Grace loved spending time with her family. Surviving Grace are two sons; Clyde E. "Gene" Sage (Donna) of Monmouth, Richard L. Sage (Claudia) of Alpha, Ill., foster son Dean "Tiny" Showalter of Tallahassee, Fl., seven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, infant son Paul Dean Sage, foster son Orville Showalter, three brothers; Bob, Irvin, and Wayne Montgomery, and one aunt Muriel Denham. Services:A funeral service will be at noon on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery. Her family will be present from 10:30 a.m. till the time of service at Turnbulls to receive friends.
