Gregoria Vargas, 82, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 1:58 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2026 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

Gregoria was born November 11, 1943 in Mexico. She later immigrated to the United States and married Robert Vargas, Sr. in Chicago, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2018.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Vargas, Jr. and José Vargas both of Galesburg; one daughter, Silvia (Raymond) Brown of Galesburg; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Gregoria is also survived by three brothers, Anastacio Coronado, Jesús (Carman) Coronado, and Julio (Dora Luz) Coronado all of Texas. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Mario and Raul; and one grandson.

Gregoria was family and home centered. She enjoyed being together with her family and cooking for them all. She also loved to watch television.

Cremation will be accorded. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Winds of Mercy Ministries, 2035 Grand Ave, Galesburg, IL. Rev. Robert Malone will officiate.
