H. Maxine Giddings

H. Maxine Giddings, age 91, of Monmouth, IL; passed away at her residence on May 27, 2011 at 6:40 pm. Maxine was born March 3, 1920 at home in Warren County, Illinois and is the daughter of Athol and Frances Hanna Armstrong. She was raised in rural Warren County where she attended Indian Grove rural grade school and attended high school. She was married to Sebastian C. "Bash" Giddings on April 3, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 10, 1973. She began work at the Bank of Alexis as a teller and then was the same at Continental National Bank and Trust Company in Chicago for a number of years. Locally Maxine worked for many years at Farm Credit in Monmouth, assistant to Bud Grier. Maxine is a member, elder, and served as the pianist for years at the Sugar Tree Grove Presbyterian Church. She is a member of Monmouth Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter T of PEO in Kirkwood, and member of the Alexis Coffee Club. She is survived by two daughters Susan (Martin) Metcalf of Burlington, Iowa and Peggy (Robert) Bunfill of St.Louis, Missouri and one son Mike (Kim) Giddings of rural Monmouth, IL. Granddaughters, Patti Metcalf, Vicki (Matt) Hassert, and Lynn (Brian) Meyer. Grandsons, Jason Bunfill and Matt (Mary Beth) Giddings. One step granddaughter Tammi Sylvester. Four great grandsons, one great granddaughter, one step great granddaughter, and three step great grandsons. Also surviving is one brother Roger (Lois) Armstrong of Coeur d'Alene, ID. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters. turnbullfuneralhomes.com Services:A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 3, 2011 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in Memorial Park in Monmouth, Illinois. Her family plans to receive friends from 9:30 a.m. till the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. A memorial fund is established for Sugar Tree Grove Presbyterian Church.
