Harold W. Pedigo, age 93, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at his home in Monmouth, on Tuesday afternoon March 24, 2009. Harold was born January 22, 1916 in Burlington, Iowa and is the son of George Elmer and Louesa O. Latham Pedigo. Harold was raised in Monmouth where he attended Monmouth Public Schools and Graduated from Monmouth High School. Before he went to college he worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He then attended Monmouth College. Harold married Ruth M. Yenerich on June 10, 1941 in Dixon, Illinois. Harold entered the United States Army attaining the rank of Master Sargent serving in Hawaii where he assembled and organized the Military Post Office during World War II. After service Harold returned to work in Monmouth at the United States Post Office where he served forty-two years as a rural carrier and clerk. Harold and Ruth formerly were members of First Baptist Church of Monmouth where he served as Deacon, Trustee, Sunday School Superintendant and teacher, as the church moderator and church handyman. He also sang in the church choir. Harold has been an active member of Faith United Presbyterian Church to the present. Harold enjoyed wood working and constructing many projects for friends and family including "Sturdy" foot stools and "Edgewood Looms", gardening and fruit trees and church. Harold also served as a Scout Leader in earlier years. Harold is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Ruth of Monmouth, Illinois Two daughters, Carol M. Phoenix and John of Bettendorf, Iowa Julia A.Pedigo of Boone, North Carolina. One son James D. Pedigo and Lynne of East Moline, Illinois Three Grandchildren Clinton, Sarah, and Lucas and Six Great Grandchildren Also surviving is Harold's sister Betty Grove in Naples, Florida Harold is preceded in death by his Parents, two sisters Gwen Walker and Mary Armstrong, and five brothers Elmer "Bill" Pedigo, Jr, Robert , "Toncey", Hollis, and Jack Pedigo. Services:A graveside comittal of his ashes will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2009, at the Ottawa Cemetery in Ottawa, Ill.
