Harriet G. McMillon, age 81, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away at 5:10 p.m. at Trinity West in Rock Island on Wednesday, December 5, 2007. Harriet was born on May 7, 1926 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph and Harriet Cox Taylor. She was reared and educated in Monmouth, attending Monmouth Public Schools. She first married William Nickerson, she was then married to Edward Eugene Eaves, and lastly she married Porter Z. McMillon. Harriet was a homemaker, and worked to raise her children to be productive, independent individuals. She ensured that they were well taken care of, until leaving home. Harriet's wealth was her family, and their welfare. Harriet enjoyed her friends, and the Birthday Club in Monmouth, music and dancing, and tap danced as a girl. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include five daughters; Harriet Thomas and Isaiah of Moline, Illinois, Francis Howard and Edward of East Moline, Illinois, Barbara Peoples and James of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Carla Nickerson and Bill of Rock Island, and Sherry Eaves of Charlotte, North Carolina. Four sons; James Nickerson Sr., of Moline, Donald Wade of Davenport, Fletcher Nickerson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Edward Eaves Jr., of Macomb. Four sisters; Wilmetta Jean Herbert and Franklin of Ft. Leonardwood, Shirley Ann Manley and Weston of Marrietta, Georgia, Patricia Marie Lucas of Monmouth, and Lillie M. Hayes of Galesburg, Illinois. Three Brothers; Vinston Taylor of Moline, John W. Taylor of Monmouth, Robert L. Taylor and Karen of Davenport, Iowa. Also surviving are twenty seven grandchildren, forty three great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by; her parents, husbands, one daughter, Tina, one son, Michael, one brother, Larry Taylor, one granddaughter, Tiffany Thomas, and one grandson, Timmeron Howard. Services:A funeral service will be Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday morning, where the family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 a.m. till the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
