Harry A. Stivers, age 84, of LasVegas, Nevada and formerly of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 10:00 am on May 21, 2011 in LasVegas. Harry was born on August 26, 1926 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the son of Fred and Gladys Walls Stivers. Harry was raised in Monmouth and attended local schools. He entered the Navy and served on the USS New Kent in the Pacific at the end of World War II. He attended the University of California at San Bernadino, California for two years. Harry was married to Mary Louise Boozan on January 13, 1974 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is surviving. Harry was a petroleum products broker and with his wife Mary owned and operated Western States Petroleum Company in LasVegas which he began in 1985. Harry and Mary loved to go on Cruises and traveled extensively. He loved jazz music. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Mary of LasVegas; one son, Mark Stivers and one daughter, Susan Gears, both of LasVegas, Nevada. He is also survived by two grandsons, Tyler O'Neill of Reno, Nevada and Nicholas Fields of LasVegas. His granddaughter Haylee Stivers resides in Calvin, Oklahoma and a great granddaughter Adaya O'Niell in Reno, Nevada. Two sisters survive Doris Marie Axline in Marshalltown, IA and Carol (Rolland) Yokum of Monmouth, IL. One brother Robert (Dianna) Stivers survives in South St.Paul, Minnesota. He is also survived by his sister in law, Helen M. Boozan of Springfield, IL and his former wife, Patricia Needham Grant of LasVegas, Nevada. He is preceded in his death by his parents and two sisters Helen Grohmann and Shirley Hughey. Services:A graveside service with military honors for the committal of his ashes will be at 10:30 am on Saturday June 11, 2011 at St.Mary's Cemetery in Monmouth, Illinois. A memorial fund is established for the Warren County Relay for Life.
