Harry W. Walker, age 81, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 4:20 am on Monday July 18, 2011 at the Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Harry was born on December 30, 1929 in Atlanta, Missouri and is the son of Willie and Eva Anspaugh Walker. Harry was raised in Economy, Missouri where he attended local schools. He entered the Navy in 1944 and served twelve years attaining the rank of E-4. Harry married Linda L. Parsons on October 24, 1959 in Silvis, Illinois and she is surviving. Harry began work at the Hudson Service Station of his brother in law, John. He then framed screens at Bixby Zimmer and later W.S. Tyler of Galesburg, for a number of years and until his retirement in 1998. He was also a member of the local union during this time. After retirement he served as night custodian for Willitts School District 38. Harry loved to bowl and was a member of bowling associations in Galesburg, Monmouth, and Biggsville, for many years. Harry loved to dance and was a most loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Surviving is his wife Linda L. Walker of Monmouth, Illinois; three daughters Karen Fengel of Oquawka, Brenda Spencer (Rick) and Sandy Anders both of Monmouth, Illinois. There are two sons Rodney (Theresa ) Walker of Castle Rock, Colorado and Donald (Tina) Walker of Cummings, Georgia. He has grandchildren Janelle, Seth, and Brendon Walker, Christopher (Sabrina) Hosemann, Patrick Baker, Jacob and Jordan Spencer, Jason and Jared Anders. There are also five Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and a very special brother in law John Edmunds in Silvis, Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents, son David, sisters Frances Cross and Vivian Edmunds, and brother Jay Walker. Services:A funeral service will be on Friday July 22, 2011 at 10:30 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment with military honors will be in Monmouth Cemetery. His family plans a visitation on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm also at the funeral home. A memorial is being established by his family and is to be established at a later date.
