Hazel M. Giddings

Hazel M. Giddings, age 95, of Monmouth, Ill., passed away at 10:11 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2009, at the Rosewood Care Center of Galesburg, Ill. Hazel was born on November 3, 1913, in Fulton County, the daughter of Charles E. and Mary Effland Hulick. Hazel was raised and educated in the rural country schools in Fulton and Knox counties. Hazel married Robert Giddings on November 25, 1932, in Ablingdon, Ill. He preceded her in death on October 6, 1981. Hazel was a homemaker in her own home. Hazel enjoyed sewing and quilting. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Hazel is survived by two daughters Martha (Gary) Francois of Galesburg, Mabel (Harry) Truman of San Antonio, Texas, two sons, Thomas (Eileen) Giddings and Lee (Pat) Giddings, both of Monmouth. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and two brothers. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Hazel's family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday evening September 8, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Turnbulls. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth. A memorial fund is being established for the Berwick Baptist Church.
