Helen M. Betty Coover

Helen M. "Betty" Coover, age 86, of Oquawka, Ill., passed away at 8:05 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2009, at the Schlotzhauer Home in Oquawka. Betty was born on August 5, 1922, in Oquawka the daughter of Charles W. and Lillian Guthrie Craig. Betty was raised in the Oquawka area and graduated from Oquawka High School in 1941. Betty married Junior C. Coover on May 22, 1943, in Reno, Nevada. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1995. Betty was a homemaker in her own home. She was a charter member of the Oquawka Eagles Club 3629, and a member of AARP. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary J.W. Clendenin V.F.W. Post 2301. Betty is survived by two daughters, Carole McIntire (Ray) and Vicky Oaks (Gary) and two sons Dennis Coover and David Coover all of Oquawka. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Becky Hays (Mark) of New London, Iowa, Ray McIntire (Amy) of Oquawka, Joni Wells (Tim) of Washington, Iowa; Craig McIntire (Tammy) of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Jacie Coover of Monument, Colo., eight great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one grandson Joe McIntire. Services:A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka. Interment will be in the Oquawka Cemetery. Friends may call after Noon on Monday and Tuesday until the time of service. No family visitation is being planned. A memorial fund is being established for the Oquawka Ambulance Service.
