Helen Goddard Rehn

Helen Goddard Rehn, age 86, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2009, at Courtyard Estates in Monmouth. Helen was born on September 15, 1922, in Monmouth, the daughter of Harold M. and Harriet Troxel Goddard. Helen was raised in Monmouth and attended Fairview Center Rural School and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1940. She attended Monmouth College. Helen married Raeburn Rehn on June 14, 1943, on the family farm in Monmouth. He preceded her in death on November 4, 1970. Helen was a homemaker. She was a member of the Chapter E of the PEO, Pi Beta Phi and the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth, She enjoyed her bridge club, coffee group, doing crafts, cooking, family and home. Helen is survived by two sons Terry G. Rehn (Jill) of Prairieville, LA; and Robert L. Rehn (Sherry) of Monmouth. Seven grandchildren: Kristi, Angela, Ashley, Kathy, Brenda, Courtney and Kristen. Seven great grandchildren: Ava, William, Jack, Paul, Casey, Sami, and Riley, William and Jack. Helen is also survived by one sister Kathryn Fritz (Roger), Naperville, Ill.; a number of nieces and nephews and special friend Joyce Manuel of Kirkwood, Ill. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Dorothy Petersen and Evelyn Linman. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2009, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Friends may call on Wednesday and Thursday till the time of the service. Interment will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth.
