Hugh Winbigler, 86, of rural Monmouth, passed Away at 3:25 am Sunday (Oct.24, 2010) at Abingdon Care Center, Abingdon, IL He was born on Sept. 2, 1924 in Monmouth, the son of Harry & Bertie (Bates) Winbigler. He was reared and educated in the Monmouth area and graduated from Monmouth High School with the class of 1942. He started farming at the age of 11 with his brother Lloyd and farmed his entire life. He married Barbara Bergren on October 24, 1945 in Monmouth and she preceded him in death on September 14, 2005. He was a member & Elder of Gerlaw Christian Church. Hugh loved farming and was honored as Farm Bureau Farmer of the Year earlier. He was active with the Warren County Prime Beef Festival for many years & along with his brother was honored as Grand Marshall of the festival parade. He was a past board member of Stockland FS, Warren High School, & the Production Credit Association. He also was a member of the Gideons Society. He enjoyed playing the musical saw, working with stained glass, and just tinkering with things. Surviving are two daughters, Janet(Dave) Meling, Seminole, FL and Julie (Steve) Russell, of Winslow, Maine; and two sons, John Winbigler of Monmouth, and Jim (Gail) Winbigler of Port Orange, FL; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife. one brother and one sister. Services:The funeral will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday at Turnbull Funeral Home--Monmouth, with the Rev. Paul Lydic officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home. The visitation with family will be before the service from 1 to 2 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Gerlaw Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Gerlaw Christian Church
