Ines Piamonte Mears, 87, of Galesburg, died at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg. Ines was born August 21, 1927 in Bogota, Columbia, the daughter of Jose and Marguerite Piamonte Vargas.  She worked as a secretary in Bogota for several years.  She then immigrated to the United States in the early 1960’s.  While living in New York City, Ines worked as a secretary. It was while living there she met Robert H. Mears, III.  They were married on May 25, 1963 in New York City.  They then moved to Galesburg and she became a homemaker while their children were young.  She also helped teach the English Language for a few years when she first moved to Galesburg.  She eventually went back to work, working at the Job Service of Illinois.  She also worked for a time at Lombard Middle School.  She then retired. Ines was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Ines and Robert belonged to a bridge club for several years.  Most of all, Ines enjoyed spending her time surround by her family. Ines is survived by one son, Thomas G. Mears of Galena, KS; one daughter, Nancy (Robert) Curry of Knoxville; and four grandchildren, Bianca Davies-Mears, Gabrielle Curry, Grace Curry, and Nash Curry.  She was preceded in death by her husband on September 25, 2004; her parents; two brothers, Alfonso and Eduardo; and two sisters, Leonor and Cecilia. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2015 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  A funeral mass will follow at 11 a.m.  Rev. Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio will officiate.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral mass.  Burial of cremated remains will be at a later time in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society.
