Iris Faye Gillen

Iris Faye Gillen, age 78, passed away at 1:30 p.m., May 27, 2008, at her residence in Galesburg, Illinois. Faye was born on May 6, 1930 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Claude and Sarah Dant Walters. She was reared and educated Monmouth attending Monmouth Public Schools. She married Billy Junior Gillen on February 7, 1948. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2008. Faye owned and operated Fay's El Combo Decorative Dolls in Larchland, Illinois for a number of years. She loved going to the boat and playing slots, she enjoyed sewing, and enjoyed going to the "Oaks" and playing bingo and taking part in other social activities. Faye also enjoyed her monthly card club. She was a devout Catholic, and loved more than anything, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Faye is survived by two sons, Shawn Gillen and Alisa of Cameron, Illinois, and Casey Gillen of Surprize, Arizona, two daughters Sarah Williamson and Wesley of Chillicothe, Illinois and Garda Tatum and Curt of Fayetteville, North Carolina Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, one sister, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brothers and four sisters. Services:A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2008, at the Monmouth Cemetery. No calling hours are planned. A memorial fund is being established.
