Irma Luella Smith

Irma Luella Smith, age 88, of Monmouth, passed away at 6:02 a.m., Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth. She was born on May 16, 1923 in Bradford, Ill., the daughter of Herman Ernest and Martha Marie Stange Witthun. Irma attended rural school in the LaFayette and Kewanee area. She married Charles J. Smith on August 30, 1945 in Monmouth, he survives. Irma was a homemaker and she worked a few years part time at Jim's Donut Shop. She enjoyed traveling and spend many winters in Florida. Irma is survived by her husband, Charles J. Smith of Monmouth, one son Ronald H. Smith of Las Vegas, Nv. special niece Betty Watson of Bettendorf, Ia., and special friend like a daughter, Shirley Myers of Monmouth. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one daughter-in-law. Services:A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth. Friends may call Saturday morning at Turnbulls in Monmouth, prior to the service. A memorial fund has been established for Legacy Estates in Monmouth or the VA Hospital in Iowa City, Ia.
