Jack H. Horner, age 73, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at OSF St.Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois on Monday February 24, 2014 at 1:30 pm. Jack was born on December 13, 1940 in Pinkneyville, Illinois and is the son of George V. "Bud" and Onnalee M. Hawes Horner. He was raised and educated in Monmouth, Illinois and attended Monmouth Schools and graduated with the class of 1958 from Monmouth High School. After school Jack enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served as a private in Camp LaJune and at Paris Island. Jack was first married to Priscilla Sprout. He was later married to Deborah L. Welch on June 29, 1973 in Monmouth, Illinois. She preceded him on April 9, 2009. Jack after service was employed by Container Corporation as a sales representative. He then served in the same capacity for Weyerhouser of Chicago, IL for a time. He then was a "sandblaster" for A-1 Sandblasting also in Chicago, Illinois. Returning to Monmouth Jack was employed by Western Stoneware where he became head of Research and Development and was Maintenance Supervisor until it closed. He then became a co-owner of Western Stoneware, to the present. Jack enjoyed watching old movies, reading, and spending time with his grand children. He also enjoyed photography. He is survived by his daughter, Jayme L. Horner of Monmouth, Illinois and three sons, Jason H. Horner (Sarah) Horner of Kirkwood, Illinois, Joshua A. Horner (Kim) of Happy Valley, Oregon, and Joel B. Horner of Cerritos, California. There are five grandchildren surviving. One sister survives, Sally DuClos (Paul) of Big Lake, Alaska. He also is survived by his very special friend, Bill W. He is preceded in death by his Parents, wife, two sons, Murray and Jeffrey, and one daughter, Jennifer. Services:A graveside committal of ashes will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 10:30 am at Monmouth Cemetery, Monmouth, Illinois. Military Honors will be given by the J. W. Clendenin Post #2301 V.F.W. and the Marion B. Fletcher Post #136 American Legion
