Jack L. Rountree, age 71, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2008, at St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, Illinois. Jack was born April 28, 1937 in Monmouth. He is the son of Samuel and Beulah M. Clark Rountree. He was raised in Monmouth attending Monmouth Public Schools and Monmouth High School. Jack served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1958. He married Margaret Roe Hale on October 11, 1974 in Oquawka, Illinois. She survives. He was previous married to Betty Hasting Lee. Jack first worked at Agar and Wells Company both in Monmouth. He began work at Admiral Corporation and Maytag in Galesburg in 1953 where he had employed for 34 years retiring in 1992. In 1973, he was charter member and past worthy president of the Monmouth Eagles, serving in the central region also in the state office until the present. He enjoyed traveling and being active in the Eagles. He enjoyed eating out and his dog "Maggie" and spending time with family and friends. Jack is survived by his wife Margaret Rountree of Monmouth, three daughters Debbie Hawk and Mike , Kathy Yates and Dennis and Sherri Nunez all of Monmouth, two sons, Patrick Rountree and Lorretta of Media, Illinois and Michael Rountree and Cathy of Burlington, Iowa, three step sons, Randall L. Hale and Cindy of Alexis, Illinois, Rodney Hale and Sue of Cameron, Illinois, and Dwayne E. Hale and Susie of Pittsburg, Kansas, 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. One Sister Betty J. Morey of Kirkwood, IL and half sisters Joan Rountree of Rock Island, Illinois, Illinois, Donna Skiver and Delbert on Monmouth and Peg Huff of Monmouth., one half brother Donald Huff of Mesa, Arizona. Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, step father, one half sister, and a great granddaughter. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment with military honors will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery in Monmouth. Jack's family will be present to receive friends at Turnbull's from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. An Eagles service will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening. A memorial fund has been established for the Cancer Fund of Illinois State Eagle Aerie.
