Jacob Simmons, age 25, of Alpha, Illinois; passed away at 5:00 pm on April 28, 2012 as the result of an accident north and east of Galesburg, Illinois. Jacob was born December 27, 1986 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the son of Joseph D. Simmons and Terry A. Hughet. Jacob was raised in Warren County and graduated from Yorkwood High School. He also attended Hamilton Technical College in Davenport, Iowa. Jacob was employed as a precision machinist at General Grind in Aledo, Illinois, and was a member of the BSAA. An avid outdoorsman, Jacob was a certified skydiver who also enjoyed target shooting, fishing, and ice fishing with his brother. He loved music, concerts, and his adopted Rottweiler mix, "Butch". Surviving Jacob is his mother Terry (John) Smallwood of rural Monmouth, two sisters Brittany (Mohammed) Shaheen of Chicago, IL; Hilary (Brad) Boelens of rural Cambridge, IL. and one brother Jared (Vanessa) Simmons of Davenport, IA. There are three nieces, Phoenix, Hayden, and Harper Cummings, and two nephews, Ibrahim and Ismail Shaheen surviving. A number of other relatives also survive. He is preceded in death by his grandfather and one aunt. Services:A visitation and time for reminiscing with his family present will be from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, IL, with a service following. Cremation will be accorded following the service.
