Obituary

Jacque Lynne Worden, 64, of Burlington, Iowa, died peacefully at home Sunday, May 24, 2026 at 9:00 p.m.

Jacque was born December 21, 1961 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Jack LeRoy and Dorothy Lynne (Stevenson) Henshaw. Jacque earned three A.A.S. degrees from Southeastern Community College in Burlington and went on to earn her B.S. in Human Services from Kaplan University.

Jacque’s career included 10 years at Motorola and last was working as an administrator at the Walton Group Home for Imagine the Possibilities (formerly Hope Haven) in Burlington.

Jacque married Rick Jern, together they had two daughters. Jacque later married Lewis R. Worden on November 30, 1991 in New London, Iowa. Jacque is survived by her husband, Lewis of Burlington; two daughters, Julie (Charles) Pope of Tampa, Florida and Jennifer (Dale) Currier of Galesburg; two stepdaughters, Lisa (Ben) Bence and Lyndsay (Rich) Lerdal both of Burlington; and her six beloved grandchildren, Lucas Borton, Aiden Borton, Nick Currier, Abbey Bence, Garret Bence, and Caydee Lerdal. Jacque is also survived by two brothers, Harold (Deanna) Henshaw and Steven Henshaw all of Oquawka; and two sisters, Becky (Bryan) Tee of Oquawka and Stacey (Jason Sickels) Henshaw of Seaton, Illinois. Jacque was preceded in death by her parents.

Jacque loved all things scary, from ghost hunting to watching horror and sci-fi movies and reading Stephen King novels. She also enjoyed watching classic television including the Andy Griffith Show and Sanford and Son. Jacque loved to entertain and was known for her beautiful table settings and was an amazing cook. She was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Jacque had a deep love for animals and cared for many rescued pets throughout her life.

Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Oquawka. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Tim White will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following services. Private family burial will be in Oquawka Cemetery, Oquawka, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Lewis Worden or to Little Bit of Country Dog Rescue in Wever, Iowa.
