Jacquelyn K. “Jackie” Mitchell, 80, of Cameron, Illinois, died peacefully at home, Sunday July 19, 2026 at 8:10 a.m.
Jackie was born August 24, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas, the daughter of Max Robert and Marian Lucille (Sprout) Peterson. She graduated from Monmouth High School and went on to marry Tracy Lynn Mitchell on March 15, 1964 at Fairview Center Church, Monmouth, Illinois. He survives of Cameron as do his children, Stacy (Steve) Krugler of Junction City, Wisconsin, Scott (Sarah) Mitchell of Cameron, Illinois, and Stefanie (Denise Eiker) Mitchell of Galesburg, three grandchildren, Andrew Krugler of Madison, Wisconsin, Allison (Brandon) Westholm of McGregor, Iowa, and Olivia Mitchell of Chicago, Illinois; and two great grandchildren, Daniel and Wesley Westholm. Jackie is also survived by three brothers, Jerry (Mindy) Peterson of South Carolina, Steve Moburg of Rockford, Illinois, and Jeff (Sherri) Moburg of Rockford, Illinois; and one sister, Sharon Wessels of Peoria, Illinois. Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Marilyn Peterson, and a brother, Kevin Moburg.
Jackie spent most of her life as a stay at home mom and farm wife. She was devoted to caring for her children and helping her husband with any task needed on the farm. She loved keeping an immaculate home, yard, and planting a beautiful garden. She spent some of her younger years working for Hines and McClintock and Larson Furniture. As the children grew older, Jackie worked for several years at Churchill Junior High School in Galesburg. In her free time she enjoyed playing golf, sewing, and reading. Most of all Jackie cherished every moment she was able to spend with her family.
Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Private burial will be at Silent Home Cemetery, Cameron, Illinois. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made in Jackie’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
