James C. "Jim" Cupps Profile Photo

James C. "Jim" Cupps, age 67 of Oquawka, passed away at 9:47 p.m., Friday, June 3, 2011 at the OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Jim was born in Dubuque, Ia., and he is the son of George and Milly McNair Cupps. He moved with his family to Casa Grande, Az. when he was three. He graduated from Casa Grande High School. Jim served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Abilene, Tx., where he met his wife, Joan. They were married in 1964 and parted ways in 1972. Jim and Joan reunited in 2005 and remarried on September 30, 2006 and were blessed to share five plus precious years. Their private toast to each other comes from John Alexander Joyce, "I shall love you in December with the love I gave in May." They share one daughter Jill Cupps Huntington of Stephenville, Tx., three grandchildren, Zan, Jared, and Kelsi Noel. He also has a stepson Bandon Hughitt. He moved up to Iowa and Illinois and remarried and has four children and grandchildren. They are Jimmy Dale (Liz Simpson) and their children Rozalyn, Dillon, Melissa, Chrisitan, and Edward. They live in Spirit Lake, Ia. Also surviving are Sons; Tom Cupps (Terry) of Oquawka, Ill., Tony Cupps (Amy) of Toddville, Ia., daughters; Olive Murphy (Steve) of Oquawka, and Millie Bundy (Kevin) of Oquawka, Ill. Grandchildren; Austin, Taylor, Jessica, Mia, Abby, Tommy, DJ, Jamie, and Korey. One brother Bill Cupps of Eagre, Az. also survives. Jim loved bowling, fishing, and being around family and friends. His church home was Rozetta Baptist Church. He was a hard working man and worked several years at Case and Farmland. He is sorely missed but now is with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Jack and Tom, and one sister Janice. Services:A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Rozetta Baptist Church in Rozetta, Ill. Interment will be in Oquawka Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday evening at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Ill., where his family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Rozetta Baptist Church or the Oquawka Fire and Ambulance.
