James " Jimbo " Boyd

James E. " Jimbo" Boyd, age 58, of Monmouth, passed away at 3:15 pm on May 9, 2013 at home in Monmouth, Illinois. Jim was born on October 8, 1954 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the son of Robert Ernest and LaRita Lou Opp Boyd. He was raised in Monmouth and attended Monmouth schools and High School. He received his General Education Degree. Jimbo was united in marriage to Angela Kay Barry on June 4, 1993 in Monmouth, Illinois, and she is surviving. Jim began work at Wilson Foods in Monmouth, where he worked for a number of years. He then tended bar at " Charlie Tunas " and the "Palace Tap" for a number of years. Most recently he has worked for R C Construction Company of Monmouth, Illinois. " Jimbo" enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and playing Donimos. He also loved going to Cordova to the drag races and playing cards on Sundays with the guys. Surviving him is his wife Angela Boyd of Monmouth, Illinois and one daughter Elizabeth (Daniel) Baker of Galesburg, Illinois and his grandson Ryen Baker of Galesburg, IL. One son is also surviving him. One sister Mary (Donald) Garrett of Monmouth, Illinois and three brothers, Steve (Alice) Boyd off Newton, KS; Bob Boyd and Mike Boyd, both of Monmouth, Illinois. His special friends Janeen and Rusty Hainds also survive of Monmouth, Illinois. There are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives surviving. Preceding him in death are his parents and one nephew. Services:A visitation or gathering of his family and friends is planned at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth on Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 followed by a service of personal tributes. Cremation will then be accorded. A memorial fund is being established by his family.
