James T Shallenberger

James M. "Jimmy" Shallenberger, age 63, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 9:12 pm Tuesday April 3rd at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois. Jim was born June 5, 1948 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the son of Martin T. and Frances M. Randolph Shallenberger. Jim was raised and educated in Monmouth attending public schools and Monmouth High School class of 1966. After high school he entered the Army and served several years in Germany. Upon returning he was first employed at Agar and then at Wilson Foods, of Monmouth, Illinois. He also was a driver for Monmouth Township for a time. Most recently he farmed his own acreage and also helped other farmers in the area. Jim loved hunting, fishing, and mushrooming. He loved to play the lottery and enjoyed teasing his nieces and nephews. He is a member of the J.W. Clendenin Post 2301. Jim is survived by his brother Mark(Patte)Shallenberger of Monmouth, Illinois, 3 nephews, Seth Shallenberger, Erik(Joanna)Ferguson, and Kyle(Jenna)Ferguson. Two great nieces Grace and Greta Ferguson, and two great nephews, Ethan and Max Ferguson. He is preceded in death by his parents. Services:A funeral service will be on Tuesday April 10th at 10:00 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment with military honors will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with his family present will be on Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Memorial funds have been established for either First Christian Church of Monmouth or the honor guard of J.W. Clendenin Post 2301.
