James Wright

James Wright, of Davenport, FL, formerly of Kirkwood, IL, passed away on October 5, 2017 at Florida Hospital in Orlando, FL, with his children by his side. Jim was born on December 16, 1939 in Keokuk County, IA and raised/educated in Webster, IA. He served in the Army branch of the US military. He married Judi Rush, from Ottumwa, IA in 1963 and moved to Kirkwood when he began his 37-year career with BNSF. Jim was an avid golfer, Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes fan, cheap beer connoisseur, and a fan of colorful language. Most importantly he lived his life on his terms and left nothing on the table. He will be missed by many but there are Big Jim stories being told at "this little bar up the road", often, catch one if you can, you won't be sorry. Survivors include his brother, Kenneth (Butch) Wright and his sister, Denise Wright, both of Sigourney, IA, his children, Christine Wright, Portland, OR, Jeff (Paula) Wright of Ramsey, IL and Justin (Meghan) Wright of Fort Worth, TX. His beloved grandchildren, Elsie, George, Griffin, Macy, and Timothy. Nothing ever made him prouder than being their grandpa. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Judi, his mother Ruth and father, Derald. Memorials may be made to the Monmouth Park District or charity of your choice. Memorial Service Cremation rites have been accorded with a celebration of life gathering at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, IL on November 24, 2017 from 5 pm - 7 pm.
