Jane L. (Zimmer) Swanson

Jane Louise Zimmer Swanson, age 98, of McLean County Nursing Home in Normal, Illinois, formerly of 1316 East Broadway, Monmouth, died at 10:08 am on Friday, August 30, 2013. She was born October 24, 1914 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur and Laura Kane Zimmer. She graduated from Monmouth College and Moser Business College in Chicago. She was an employee of the former Illinois Bankers Life Assurance Company for four years and an employee of the Illinois State Medical Society for 40 years in the society's Monmouth and Chicago offices. During the last 20 years, she served as Executive Secretary of the Society's Woman's Auxiliary. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and was a past president of the Alter and Rosary Society, Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae Association and AAUW. She was also a past member of the O.G.M. Bridge Club. She is survived by her sister, Shirley Pople, Normal, IL, three nieces, Ann (C.P. )Harding and Carol (Steve) Galt, both of Normal, IL, Lynne (Daryl) Petty, Oskaloosa, IA, and nephew Phil (Cindy) Pople of Frederick, MD. In addition, she is survived by nine great nieces and nephews and a cousin, Larry Kane of LaHarpe, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Arthur P. "Bud" Zimmer Jr. Services:A mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the Epiphany Catholic Church in Normal, IL. Her family will receive friends at Epiphany Catholic Church for an hour prior to the services on Tuesday, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Interment services will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Monmouth, IL, on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 pm. Memorial donations will be for either, Immaculate Conception Church or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
