Janet L. Keever

Janet L. Keever, age 76, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away on May 8, 2014 at her Oquawka residence at 1:05 pm. She was born on November 1, 1937 in Burlington, Iowa and is the daughter of Herbert and Ada L. Houston Wishchmeier. She was reared and educated in Burlington, Iowa where she attended local schools and graduated from Burlington High School. Janet married Milton Keever on May 31, 1957 in Monmouth, Illinois and he is surviving. She was employed for sixty years as a Legal Secretary for numerous attorney offices locally and also worked in the High School as a secretary. Janet is a member of Faith Bible Church in Oquawka, Illinois. She loved to do and did much handwork and needlepoint, making many items and quilts locally. She loved her flowers and outdoors, and loved to go to Catfishbend Casino in Burlington, IA. She was avid about playing Bingo with the Senior Citizens in Burlington, Iowa and also was an avid St.Louis Cardinals fan. She also was avid about men's basketball and loved to watch the Big 10. She especially loved the Christmas Holiday and making it special for the kids and grandchildren. Janet is survived by her husband, Milton Keever of Oquawka, IL; one daughter, Cynthia (Bill) Nesbitt of Gladstone, IL; there are two grandsons, Brandon Bielser of Gladstone, IL, Jeremiah Bielser of Gladstone, IL., and five great grandchildren surviving. She has one brother, Dean (Nancy) Wischmeier surviving who lives in Florida. She is preceded in her death by her parents, one sister, and one brother. Services:A funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, 11:00 am at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Her family will be present from 10:00 am to 11:00 am for visitation at the funeral home for the hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Oquawka Cemetery. Memorial funds have been established for either the Henderson County Hospice or Faith Bible Church in Oquawka, Illinois.
