Janice S. (Johns) Podrovitz

Janice S. Podrovitz, age 77, passed away at 5:00 am on Monday April 14, 2025 at the Loft of Canton, Illinois. Janice was born on April 15, 1947 in Quanah, Texas and is the daughter of Samuel Ralph and Alice Gertrude Morris Johns. She attended Quanah school and the Quanah High School from which she graduated from. She then attended Tarkington College for two years and then went to Beauty School. Janice married Steve Thomas Podrovitz on February 14, 1966 in Quanah, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 11, 2019. Janice began work with "Servants of the Paracletes Arch Diocese in Fenton, Missouri. They moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1985 and began work with Old Second National Bank as a bookkeeper and in loans. After this she was employed by Life Touch doing data processing. She retired in 2003. After moving to Leakey, Texas where she began a Quilting business " Stitches in Motion " In 2017 they moved to Spencer, and to Peoria in 2022. Janice was always a "Jack of all Trades " and there was nothing that she couldn't fix. She also loved all animals and was friendly with many of them. She is survived by her daughter, Stefanie Kirk of Franklin, Texas and her son, Tom Podrovitz and Heidi of Abingdon, Illinois. She has two grand children, Stefan and Audrey Kirk. Janice's sister survives, Phyllis Morrison and Grant of Alvin, Texas, and her step sisters, Ramona Meharg of Cedar Creek, Texas and Vickie Diaz of Iowa Park, Texas, and one step brother Larry Blalock of Dallas,Texas. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and 1 sister. Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth is in charge of her care and cremation is being accorded. Her family is not planning visitation or memorial services at the present. A memorial fund for Janice is being established for " The Loft of Canton, and my be mailed to her son at 402 South Washington Abingdon, Illinois 61410.
