Jimmie D. Johnson, age 75, of Biggsville, Illinois, passed away at 5:20 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois. Jimmie was born on February 23, 1933, in LaHarpe, Illinois, the son of Ralph N. and Edith Webb Johnson. He was reared and educated in LaHarpe and graduated from LaHarpe High School 1951. Jimmie served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Phyllis K. Turner on November 19, 1960 in Monmouth, Illinois. She survives. Jimmie was a life-long horse trainer, owning and operating Twin J Stables. He had a Roman-riding act he performed on his matching paint horses "Trigger" and "Calico" in the 1950's. He enjoyed showing and training horses, saddle repair, gardening and baling hay. He was a member of the American Paint Horse Association and the Illinois State Stock Horse Association. Jimmie is survived by his wife, Phyllis Johnson of Biggsville, one daughter Julie Pence and Steve of Lomax, Illinois, one granddaughter Samantha Scott of Lomax, and several step grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister. Services:Cremation has been accorded. The family will be present to receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois, on Monday, May 19, 2008, at 6:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening. A memorial fund is being established for either Rainbow Riders in Monmouth or the Lomax Saddle Club.
