Joan Fuller Steis

Joan Fuller Steis, age 83, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at Galesburg Cottage Hospital on June 5, 2011 at 12:35 am. She was born May 29, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri and is the daughter of Fred C. and Catherine Emery Fuller. She was raised in Kansas City, Missouri where she attended local schools and high school. She then attended and graduated from William Wood's College in Fulton, Missouri. She was married to Parker L. Steis on April 10, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2011. Joan was a homemaker and mother to her family she is a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth, Illinois and member of the United Presbyterian Women, having formerly served as it's president. She also was a member of ONO Club and the CMH Hospital Auxiliary. Joan also volunteered and enjoyed being an art presenter at Garfield School. Surviving are two daughters Catherine Abernathy of Monmouth, Illinois and Jane (John) Walters of Hanover Park, Illinois. She has two grandchildren Elizabeth (Jon) Gear and Nathan Walters and two great grandchildren Cole and Emily Gear. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one daughter Mary Ann. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:00 am on June 10th, at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery. Her family plans to receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday evening June 9th. Memorial funds are being established for either "Alzheimers" or Faith United Presbyterian Church.
