John F. "Jack" Weegar, age 79, formerly of Monmouth, IL passed away in Austin, TX on Thursday, September 27, 2012. Jack was born on August 8, 1933 in Monmouth, and was the youngest son of Alfred Weegar and Beulah (Robertson) Weegar. Jack was raised in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1951. He married Emma J. Mustapich on August 11, 1956 in Alexis, IL. They were married for 35 years and raised a family of three boys and a girl in Monmouth, until Emma's early death at age 56 on August 24, 1991. Jack was first employed by the Sieg Company auto parts store in Monmouth. He later worked for General Telephone Company in Monmouth as an office equipment installer until his retirement in 1992. Jack was an avid drag and sprint car racer in his early years with the "Dragon Coolies" automobile club. He earned the nickname "Oil Can" because of his mechanical expertise. His later interests were motorcycles and CB radios, and he went by the radio handle "Telephone Man". Whether it was cars, motorcycles, radios, washing machines, or something in between, Jack could fix anything and did so for many years for people in Monmouth. Jack was a bright, honest, and gentle person who was respected by those who knew him. Surviving Jack are his daughter Johanna M. Weegar of Austin, TX, and his three sons Aaron G. Weegar (wife Lauren) and Mark A. Weegar (wife Rhonda), both of Austin, TX, and Todd D. Weegar (wife Cathy) of Libertyville, IL. Jack is also survived by five grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Jack is preceded in death by his parents and three older brothers. Services:A visitation and funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6th at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be at the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery in Monmouth, immediately following the funeral. Guests are invited to join the family afterwards for lunch and a celebration of Jack's life.
