John A. 'Johnny' Mettler

John A. "Johnny" Mettler, age 56, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 8:18 P.M. on Monday, September 11, 2017 at his residence. He was born on October 24, 1960 in El Paso, Texas, the son of Donald and Hiroko (Kobeyashi) Mettler. Johnny attended Warren Schools. On May 25, 2002 he married Jena Rae and she is surviving. Johnny worked as a iron worker for Spacemark in Decatur, Illinois, he owned and operated Maple City Jewelry in Monmouth, and lastly, worked at M.C.R. in Monmouth until his retirement. He enjoyed learning and teaching Martial Arts; attaining a 2nd Degree Black Belt, old television shows, and drinking beer. Johnny is survived by his wife Jena Rae, two sons; Josh and James Mettler, two step-children; Christina and Jonathan Johnson, two sister; Donna (Mark) McCaw and Sandy (Mike) Krechel, two brothers; Fred (Paula) Mettler and Donald (Julie) Mettler, Jr., and one grandson, Joseph Ramos. Also surviving is his faithful and loving dog, Brandy Lynn. He is preceded in death by his parents. As were Johnny's wishes, cremation is being accorded. There are no services currently planned. A memorial is being established for his family.
