John Miller Walters, age 94, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 9:04 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth, Illinois. John was born on May 6, 1913, in Belmont, Illinois, the son of John Wesley and Dolly Miller Walters. He was reared and educated in Belmont, attending Belmont schools and Seaton High School. John married Lois Ruth Douglas on September 22, 1934 in Aledo, Illinois. She preceded him in death on November 3, 1986. John was a grain and livestock farmer all his life, beginning in the Seaton area, then in the Larchland area for many years. John moved south of Kirkwood in 1954 where he farmed for the rest of his career. John liked to golf and enjoyed local baseball and harness racing. John had served on the Liberty and Kirkwood School boards. John is survived by two daughters, Karen (Cleo) Dye of Monmouth, Laurie (Rex) Shaver of Kirkwood, one son John H. (Mary) Walters of Monmouth, twelve grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, numerous great great grandchildren. three sisters Estella Hultgren of Aledo, Illinois, Margaret Campbell and Virginia Ewing both of Seaton. Preceding John in his death are his parents, Wife, one son Terry, two sisters, Pearl Levine and Geneva Welch. Services:Cremation has been accorded. A memorial graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on April, 1 2008, in the Center Grove Cemetery, Kirkwood. No visitation is being planned by his family. A memorial fund is being established for Courtyard Estates in Monmouth.
