John W. Setser, age 64, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at 8:55 am on Saturday April 16, 2011 at his Oquawka residence. John was born on August 8, 1946 in Macomb, Illinois and is the son of Earl R. and Betty J. Hendrickson Setser. John was raised in Henderson County where he attended local schools and attended Union High School. John was a Seaman 1C in the United States Navy serving in Viet Nam. He was married to Linda R. Whitmore on June 18, 1967 in Gladstone, Illinois. John was a truck driver for most of his working career and first worked at John Deere in Moline. He then was employed at J.I. Case for most of nineteen years, and then at International Harvester. His last employment was with Riley Industrial Painting in Burlington, Iowa. He also drove for a number of other employers in the area to include Charley McChesney in Gladstone. John is survived by his wife, Linda of Oquawka, one daughter Dawn M.( Ronnie) Scott of Media, IL. and two sons, Stephen W. (Charity) Setser of Monmouth, and John P.Setser in Lincoln, Illinois. There are six grandchildren Charity, Cody, Stephanie, Kurt, Kassi, and Harley. He is also survived by his sister Cheryl L.Giltmeir of Bettendorf, IA and two brothers Scott Brown of Rolla, MO. and Rick Setser of Mesa, AZ. John is preceded in death by his parents and brother Steve Brown. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:00 am on April 21, 2011 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Interment with military honors will be in Oquawka Cemetery. His family plans to receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Turnbull Funeral Home Oquawka. A memorial fund is being established by his family.
