Joseph P. Young

Joseph P. Young, age 54, of Monmouth, IL; passed away at Sharon Health Care Willows in Peoria, Illinois on December 19, 2008, at 1:57 pm. Joe was born September 4th, 1954 in Macomb, IL and is the son of Buford "Boots" and Eleanore "Ellie" Quinn Young. He was raised in Monmouth where he attended local schools and Monmouth High School. He worked many jobs including Wells Pet Food and the Clark Gas Station in Monmouth and then moved to Texas in 1982. In 1985 Joe was hit by a car and returned to Monmouth. He resided at Cottonwood in Galesburg until it's closing and then went to Sharon Woods where he has resided to the present. Joe enjoyed everyone and was a very "happy go lucky" and loving person. He enjoyed baseball. He is survived by his parents "Boots" and "Ellie" Young of Monmouth. One brother Bill (Cathy) Young of Monmouth, IL; and Two sisters, Tara (Richard) Speck of Monmouth, and Cathy Godsil of Galesburg, Illinois. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Joe is preceded in death by his brother Richard, all of his grandparents, and a great niece, Ireland Ault. Services:A memorial service for Joe will be on Friday December 26, 2008 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Cremation has been accorded. His family plans to receive friends at the funeral home for the hour prior to the service 12:00 to 1:00 pm. His ashes will be interred at St. Mary's Cemetery following the memorial service Friday. A memorial fund is being established by his family.
