Juanita R. Matigian, age 78, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, on February 4, 2012 at 1:46 pm. She was born April 8, 1933 in Varna, Illinois and is the daughter of G.Wesley and Lilly E. Palm Lorance. She was raised in Varna where she attended local schools and high school. She then completed her B A degree at McMurray College and received her teacher's certificate. Juanita was previously married to George Victor Matigian. Juanita began teaching at Warren High School in Gurnee, Illinois and ultimately assumed the role of Dean of Girls. She then left public teaching to start a private pre-school with her husband George in Gurnee, Waukegan, and Liberty, Illinois which she operated to her retirement. Juanita was an avid Golfer, loved to play Bridge, and the game of Scrabble. Surviving are two sons Matthew (Diana) Matigian of Oak Park, Illinois and Victor (Shannon) Matigian of Bloomington, Illinois. There are two sisters, her identical twin, Genevieve Felt of Oquawka, Illinois and Eudora (Steve) Harrold of Eatonton, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her parents, and one son George. Services:As was her request, cremation is being accorded and no service is being planned at the present.
