Judith L. Neal

Judith Leslie Neal, age 64, of Sun Lakes, Arizona and formerly of Monmouth; passed away at 4:15 am on April 7th in Sun Lakes, Arizona. Judith was born on September 29, 1944 in Monmouth and is the daughter of Leslie "Chi" and Greta McKelvie Hilsenhoff. She was raised in Monmouth where she attended local schools and graduated from Monmouth High School. She also attended Monmouth College for two years. She was married to Stephen O. Neal on May 23, 1964 in Monmouth, Illinois. She was employed ten years as Coordinator of Veterans Affairs at the Veteran Services Office at Arizona State University. She also was Chief Clerk of Undergraduate Admissions of Northern Illinois University for fifteen years. Judith was an avid reader and enjoyed Bowling, Golf, and Running. Her greatest joy was her family and grandchildren and their events. Surviving are her husband Stephen Neal of Sun Lakes, Arizona; two sons Jeffery ( Deena) Neal of Monmouth, Illinois and Andrew ( Shannon ) Neal of North Richland Hills, Texas; her daughter Stephenie ( Christopher ) Jerome of Flagstaff, Arizona. Also surviving are her three grandsons Christopher, Carter, and Colton Neal, all of Monmouth, IL and her three granddaughters Cora, of Monmouth, IL and McKenna and Avery Neal, both of North Richland Hills, Texas. Her three sisters, Joyce (Willis) Gardner in Wisconsin, Betty Carol Basinger in Florida, and Nancy (Phil) Schwiebert in California, and numerous nieces and nephews. Judith was preceded in death by her parents. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Heritage United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth. Interment will be in Center Grove Cemetery in Kirkwood. Friends may call at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, on Monday where her family plans to receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be designated at a later date.
