Julius R. Evans

Julius R. Evans, age 79, of Lewistown, Illinois; passed away at 4:35 am on June 23, 2009 at Graham Hospital in Canton, Illinois. Julius was born on February 27, 1930 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the son of Frank and Viola Strowthers Evans. Julius was raised in Monmouth and attended local schools. He enlisted in the Army on February 14, 1951 and served to February 5, 1953. Julius, for a time was employed by Diffenbaugh / Warfield Lumber Company as a yard hand. Julius has been disabled for a number of years. Julius is survived by his mother Viola Evans in Peoria, Illinois; two sisters Gloria Glenn in Peoria, Illinois and Rosetta A Evans of Monmouth, Illinois; and one brother Gary Strowthers of Fairfield, California and a number of cousins. He is preceded in death by his father. Services:Cremation has been accorded. A burial of his ashes will be in the Monmouth Cemetery at a later date. No memorial service, viewing, visitation, or memorial fund is being planned by his family. Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements locally.
