K. Frances Long, age 97, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away on December 15, 2010 at Rosewood Care Center at 7:45 am. She was born on November 22, 1913 in Warren County, Illinois. Frances is the daughter of James Wilson and Myrtie Mae Conard Shimmin. She was reared and educated in the rural schools of Warren County and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1931. Frances married A. Lewis Long on August 14, 1932 at Fairview Center United Methodist Church. He passed away on April 22, 1984. Frances, first and foremost, was a devoted Mother and Grandmother to her family and grandchildren. She formerly was a member of the United Bretheran Church and the Evangelical United Bretheran Church. She currently is a member of the Fairview Center United Methodist Church. Frances always was active in the works and affairs of her church. She also most enjoyed bird watching and reading. She is survived by her four sons Clarence "Tom" and Marjorie Long of Cameron, Illinois; Lynn and Dorothy Long of Monmouth, Illinois; Lowell and Dee Long of Monmouth, Illinois; and Benjamin and Joyce Long of Iowa City, Iowa. There are nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren, Thirteen Great Grandchildren, Six Step Great Grandchildren, and Four Step Great Great Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, One brother, her grandson James Michael Long, and nephew Deane Slater. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Monday December 20, 2010 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Her family plans to receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday at Turnbulls. A memorial fund is established for Fairview Center United Methodist Church.
