Karen M. Bruce

Karen Marie Bruce, 65, of Viola, passed away Friday, January 25, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island, Illinois surrounded by her children and their father John Harvey Bruce. She was born November 28, 1942, in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Robert E. Martin and Martha M. Johnson Armstrong. Karen was reared in Monmouth, attending Monmouth schools. She married John Harvey Bruce on April 24, 1965 in Aledo, Illinois Survivors include her children, Dawn and Jeff Rumburg, Seaton; Tina Christian, Moline; Laura and Chris Stratton, Viola; John and Elizabeth Bruce, Viola; her grandson whom she raised Michael and Kathy Bruce, Viola; 12 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 4 very special friends; Bonnie Jacobs, Matherville, Johnny Adams, Matherville, Judy Street , Oklahoma and Kathy Crose, Viola. Karen spent her days caring for her youngest grandchildren which was her greatest joy in life. Preceding her in death were her parents, one sister, Laura Ella and her great friend Janet (Mabel) Maynard. Services:A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth. Her family plans to receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund is being established to be designated later.
