Katherine "Katie" E. Peterson

Katherine E. "Katie" Peterson, age 83, of Gladstone, Illinois, passed away at 10:55 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst, Illinois. Katherine was born on July 28, 1924, in Stronghurst the daughter of Lewis D. and Mattie Burr Dalton. Katherine was raised in rural Gladstone area. She attended Bluffdale rural school and graduated from Biggsville High School. Katie married Fred Peterson on November 27, 1950 in Gladstone. He survives. Katie first worked at Ross Manufacturing for a time and later for a number of years as an inspector at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, Iowa as well as other various other employments. She enjoyed crocheting, flower gardening and baking cookies. She loved cooking meals for family and friends and traveling to see her sister in Ohio, but her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her main interest. She is survived by her husband, Fred Peterson of Gladstone, three daughters, Karen Ford of Gladstone, Hazel "Sue" Stuart of Gladstone, Garnett Kelly of West Burlington, Iowa, two sons Frederick Peterson and Carol of Burlington, Iowa and Charles Peterson of West Burlington, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister Frances Chatt of Port Clinton, Ohio. Preceding Katie in her death are her parents, three brothers, and two sisters. Services:A graveside service and interment will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 in Carman Cemetery, Carman, Illinois. Her family will be present at Turnbull Funeral Home in Biggsville from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 14.
