Katherine "Kate" M. Louck

Katherine M. "Kate" Louck, age 91, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 10:25 am at the Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, on May 26, 2014. Kate was born on June 30, 1922 in Oquawka, Illinois and is the daughter of Glenn and Hattie Brown Kimmitt. She was raised and educated in Oquawka where she attended local schools through high school. She was married to John Melvin Louck on December 24, 1940 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in his death on February 11, 1986. Kate first was employed at Wirtz Book Store in Monmouth , Illinois where she was in charge of the music department. She later worked at Community Memorial Hospital as a Nurses Aid for five years, and was a member of the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for many years. Kate and John Moved to Wisconsin in 1971 where the resided until returning to Monmouth in 1980. For a number of years here, she was partners in the " House of Yore" Antique store with her daughter, Kathy and Cheryl Kinney. Katherine had an active interest in antiques and crafts outside of her home for many years....... Kate is survived by her daughters, Kathy A. Ford (James) of Florance, AZ. and Nancy K. Engelhard (Jimmy) of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. She had three sons, John M. Louck and J. Michael Louck (Judy) both of Monmouth, IL and Joseph Louck (Jody) of Middletown, Ohio. There are nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter surviving. Kate has one sister, Alice May of Oquawka, Illinois surviving. A number of other relatives also are surviving. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, two daughter in laws, Margo and Connie, one brother, Richard, and a brother in law Cecil. Services:A funeral service will be at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois on May 29, 2014 at 10:00 am. Her family will be present at the funeral home for visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday evening at Turnbull's. Interment will be in the Oquawka Cemetery in Oquawka, Illinois.
