Kathleen M. Bennett

Kathleen M. Bennett, age 70, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away on October 7,2014 at 4:45 am at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born on May 16, 1944 in Chicago, IL and is the daughter of Arthur F. and Dolores V.Stritzel Hughes. She was raised and educated in both Monmouth and McHenry, Illinois where she attended Immaculate Conception School and Monmouth High School where she graduated with the class of 1962. She was married to Larry J. Bennett on September 15, 1962 in Monmouth, Illinois and he preceded her in death on July 24, 2006. Kathleen was a homemaker in her own home all her life. She first worked as a seamstress at Monmouth's Formfit Company for a time. She then was a switch-board operator for General Telephone Company in Monmouth for a number of years. Lastly she was a secretary for the Monmouth Cable Company for a number of years. Kathleen is an active member of Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth, IL. She enjoyed working in her yard, reading, going to the "show", and eating out with her girl friends. She is a member of the Monmouth Red Hatters group. She is survived by her daughter, Terri (Mike) Leary of Monmouth, Illinois and one son, Jeffrey A. Bennett of Tucson, Arizona. There are two granddaughters, one grandson, and one great granddaughter, surviving. Her sister survives, Deborah (Dan) Portuguez of Oceanside, CA. and one brother, Michael T. Nielsen of Monmouth, IL survive. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, and one sister, Patricia Linze. Services:A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday October 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth, IL Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation with her family present will be on Friday morning from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois A memorial fund is being established for Immaculate Conception Church of Monmouth, IL.
