Kenneth T. Hart, age 71, of Gerlaw, Illinois; passed away at 12:13 am on May 12, 2013 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, IL. Kenny was born on February 5, 1942 in Princeville, Illinois the son of Wayne P. and Beulah M. Reimolds Hart. He was reared and educated in Princeville and moved to Dallas City, Illinois in 1956. He married JoAnn Packur on July 28, 1961 in Monmouth, Illinois. Kenny worked as a machine operator at the Alton Box Company in Galesburg, IL for a number of years, then as a meat cutter at AGAR/Wilson Packaging for more than twenty years in Monmouth, IL. He was also employed at Henry Hill Correctional Center in Galesburg, Exide Battery in Burlington, Iowa. and most recently for Klien Equipment in Monmouth, IL. After hours, Kenny was best known as the mechanic at Lonnies Texaco Station in Monmouth for over 40 years. Kenny in the 1950s was recruited and tried out for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team as a pitcher. He loved the outdoors, playing softball, fishing, and golfing at Gibson Woods in Monmouth, Illinois. He also liked to hunt, tinker on cars and watch old Western movies. He is survived by his wife JoAnn of Monmouth, Illinois and two daughters, Tamy (Henry) Kuzel of Springfield, Illinois and Darcy Hart of Galesburg, Illinois. There are four granddaughters, Harriet Hart of Galesburg, IL, Michelle Mulcahy, Dawn Nims and Jessica Kuzel all of Springfield, IL. One sister Janice (Jerry) Ryder of Maquon, IL. and two brothers Merlyn (Martha) Hart of Monmouth, IL and Donald (Gert) Hart of Monmouth, IL. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Bernard, and one sister Carolyn. Services:A memorial service will be on Saturday May 18m 2013 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, IL at 10:00 am. Cremation is being accorded. A memorial fund is being established for Monmouth/Roseville ladies softball.
