Kenneth J. "Kenny" Miller, age 74, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at 1:55 pm on Friday, June 6, 2014 at his residence in Oquawka. He was born on April 19, 1940 in LaFayette, Illinois the son of James Addison and Kathryn Etta Mallery Miller. He attended G & O High School in Gladstone, Illinois graduating in the Class of 1958. On October 23, 1959, Kenny married Bernice Mae "Toots" McIntire in Oquawka, IL. He was drafted in 1963 and proudly served in the United States Army for two years and attained the rank of SP4. Kenny began work at Delmonte Packing in Mendota, IL. during summers in high school. He then worked at Archer Motors and the Basket Factory in Burlington, Iowa, he was an installer for Fox Appliance working with appliances and cabinets, installing kitchen cabinets as a self-employed contractor, and lastly at the City of Galesburg Well in Oquawka where he was the water plant supervisor. He retired in 1994 after suffering from contamination due to the flood. He attended Faith Bible Church. Kenny is survived by his wife, Bernice "Toots" Miller, two sons, James A. "Jim" (Shannon) and Lawrence W. "Pete" (Jill Christensen) Miller, grandchildren Michelle, Owen, Kenny, Libby, Caitlyn, Courtney, and Elizabeth, and great-grandchild Lane Daniel Miller, and one brother, Dennis Miller of LaFayette, IL. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by parents, his step-father Don Wilson, brother Lawrence Miller, sister Nancy Otis, nephews Joe McIntire and Kenny Jo Miller, and niece Becky Miller. Services:A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. His family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow the service at the Oquawka Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for either Faith Bible Church or Henderson County Hospice.
