Kyle P. Gemmell

Kyle P. Gemmell, age 26, of Biggsville, Illinois, passed away on January 24, 2016 at the University Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born on June 26, 1989 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of John P. and Debra L. (Johnson) Gemmell. Kyle attended Union High School. On October 22, 2010, he married Mariah L. Krow in Henderson County and she is surviving. Kyle proudly served his Country as a Sgt. in the United States Army Reserves. In 2012, he completed a 13 month tour in Afghanistan with the 322nd Engineer Company. He worked at C.G.B. in Gladstone for nine years. Kyle enjoyed hunting dear with his bow, fowl, and squirrel. He loved to take his children fishing. Kyle rode Harley Davidson motorcycles with his family. In his life, he most enjoyed spending time with his family. Kyle is survived by his parents, Debra L. Gemmell (Clayton Huss) and John "Pat" Gemmell (Susan Beckett), wife Mariah Gemmell, children Keira, Eli, and Kora Gemmell, two sisters, Brandi (Travis) Martin of Burlington, IA and Nicole Gemmell of Galesburg, IL, one brother, Kaleb Gemmell of Biggsville, IL, grandparents Clifford and Maida Johnson, his mother-in-law Dixie Savage, brother-in-laws Dylan Eldridge and Toby Krow, and niece Evelyn Krow. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Joe and Jean Gemmell. Visitation 9:00-11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Funeral Service A funeral service is planned for 11:00 am on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Interment with military honors will follow at the Biggsville Township Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for the SICU at University Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa or to establish an educational fund for Kyle's children.
